Lambretta
c1963
Surely the 12 mirrors on this distinctive 60s’ scooter would provide scope to check if you were looking ace! Although the weight might allow you 30 mph tops.
Owner, 18 year old Phil ‘Wheels’ Clark from Croydon, didn’t just see his Lambretta as a mode of transport but also akin to his ‘Mod’ philosophy.
Italian design at its best — clean lines, sleek, sharp, neat — reflecting Phil’s own style. It embodied modern attitudes and optimistic ideas .
Not built for speed but comfort, afforded with a leopard-skin backed seat. Could the Innocenti plate and whip aerial Union Jack suggest internationalism?
All dressed up with somewhere to go, ‘Mods’ loved to travel in convoy giving them a sense of freedom and camaraderie.
WHO are the band with roots in 60s mod?
